SCORE Baja 1000 - 2nd in Class 1, 5th Overall!
Nov 13-14, 2007 - What a run! The Strobel Jimco-Chevy was absolutely flawless during this 2007 edition of the legendary Baja 1000 race. The team experienced no flat tires, and nearly no mechanical problems during the 1,296.4 mile race. After 26 grueling hours of dust, mud, rocks, and silt, the car crossed the iconic Baja 1000 finish line in 2nd place in Class 1, with only the famous "Herbst Truggy" driven by Larry Roesseler and Troy Herbst with a quicker Class 1 time. More impressive, the car ended up in 5th place overall, a tremendous accomplishment, beating most of the marquee Trophy Truck teams! "It was a story-book run, the car was perfect and our plan came together and was executed exactly as we drew it up!" said driver Steve Strobel.

This year's 40th Anniversary Baja 1000 had 424 entries from 44 U.S. states and 20 different countries. It is the granddaddy - the "Super Bowl" - of all desert races which stretched across 1,296.4 miles from Ensenada in Baja California Norte Mexico to Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. Mexico tourism officials estimated record crowds of nearly 350,000 spread out along the course and both sides of the beautiful Baja peninsula. Co-driver Dwight Strobel said "the final 200 miles had people lined up solid on both sides of the race course...the fan support was unbelievable!".

"I just want to again thank our driving/co-driving teams who charged hard during the race. My co-driver Dave Cole really helped during the nearly 700 mile leg that I drove" said Steve Strobel. "I want to also thank the other driver/co-driver teams of Bob Lofton and Rusty Szymanski who drove the middle leg, as well as Gay Smith and Dwight Strobel who brought the car across the finish line for us." said Strobel.

Steve went on to say "We couldn't have done it without all of our team members who helped prep the car, and who also made the journey with us down the peninsula to man their various pit locations. BF Goodrich who helped us with fuel transport and pit support, and all the guys at Jimco who helped us prepare the car as well. Thanks a million everybody!"

Be sure to tune in and/or set your DVR's to capture the NBC Sports television presentation of the race on December 30th. The network will be airing a full 1 hour feature presentation of the 40th Anniversary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race that day.    > Photos

SNORE KC HiLites Midnight Special - Initial Class 1 Race
Jun. 30, 2007 - Team Strobel finished the SNORE KC HiLites Midnight Special race in 8th place in Class 1. The Strobel's had passed 6 Class 1 competitors in the first 15 minutes of the race and were headed for what was looking like the fastest lap of the race before the punishing desert course punctured the first tire. After battling through 4 more flat tires Steve Strobel and co-driver Dwight Strobel had worked their way back to 2nd place. At the 247th mile of the scheduled 250 mile race, the axle broke preventing the team from finishing what would have been a very fast final lap. All in all, a fantastic run for the first race in the new Class 1 Jimco Champion car!   > Photos

SNORE Battle at Primm
Feb. 19, 2006 - what an INCREDIBLE way to start the 2006 offroad season! As one of the SNORE officials said, the Strobel Motorsports car with its recently outfitted Fat Performance Toyota was "flawless" both Saturday and Sunday. Steve finished the Saturday race with over a 2 minute lead and increased that lead on Sunday by quickly catching and passing the rest of the Class 10 cars in the field. Expect more of this in '06 with a recharged race car and an even more fired up driver and crew!   > Photos

The 1004 Car 5th After 1,000 Long Miles
June 22, 2002 - After 3 days of grueling desert racing that covered a loop around nearly one-third of Nevada, the team brought the entry home in 3rd place. The biggest challenge of the weekend was for driver Steve Strobel to work the car free from a tough tree! The car slid off a high-speed, off camber left hander, eventually coming to rest literally in a tree. The crew has now installed a band saw in the on-board tool kit to help out should the team encounter anything like that in the future!   > Photos
